NEW ACOUSTIC PRODUCT COLLECTION IN COLLABORATION WITH ELIZA REDMANN

North Franklin, CT October 2024 – Unika Vaev, provider of fresh solutions for Decorative Acoustic Products, is pleased to announce our latest Acoustic Product Collection in collaboration with Eliza Redmann, Principal of Folded Poetry LLC, based in Durham, NC.

The Folded Poetry Tile Collection by Eliza Redmann, principal of Folded Poetry Design in Durham, NC is a multi-dimensional symbol of her experience recovering from traumatic brain injury. Inspired by her altered experience of reality post brain injury, the collection’s Diad, Hexad, and Triad designs feature directionally scattered surfaces that not only disperse and absorb sound waves but also visually mimic disorientation. These designs can be arranged either individually or in combination to create limitless customizable patterns, meeting the needs of a variety of spatial applications. Crafted from PET, Folded Poetry addresses both aesthetic and acoustic challenges by reducing auditory overwhelm while offering a dynamic, multi-dimensional reflection of Eliza’s recovery journey, where art and functionality converge.

Diad
The Diad form is the first-ever Folded Poetry design Eliza created during the beginning of the pandemic as she explored utilizing geometric paper sculpture as a means to both capture and process her altered life experience post traumatic brain injury. Diad is quite literally the symbol of her creative brand, Folded Poetry, and lends itself wonderfully to acoustic enhancement through the combination of four directionally scattered surfaces and Unika Vaev’s PET.

Hexad
Hexad provides maximum wall coverage and utilizes six distinct surfaces and surrounding facets to both scatter and absorb noise waves. When tiled together, undulating irregular geometries of Folded Poetry emerge, creating perplexing and highly-customizable compositions of acoustic artwork.

Triad
Simultaneously simple and perplexing, Folded Poetry’s Triad includes three directionally scattered surfaces which both disperse and absorb sound waves. The smallest of the three Folded Poetry collection products, Triad can be tiled together densely in an unlimited number of arrangements to provide maximum acoustic enhancement.

About the Designer
Eliza Redmann is a sculptural artist and architect based in Durham, North Carolina whose work is informed by her experience with traumatic brain injury. A car crash in 2018 unexpectedly plunged Eliza into disability interrupting her blossoming career in architecture. In response to her unfortunate circumstances, she began producing architectural art to both heal herself and channel her altered experience of reality into mind-bending geometric sculptures. Eliza manages persistent visual disturbances resulting from her brain injury daily, and through Folded Poetry, she seeks to “capture the structure of regular patterns and shapes, while adding a layer of geometric information which the eyes and brain can’t quite make sense of. This visual disorientation is designed to challenge viewers to perceive outside of what is normal or traditional, just as I must now live, adapt, and navigate the world in new ways.” In response to the auditory overwhelm caused by her injury, Eliza leaned into the directionally scattered surfaces of Folded Poetry which naturally lend themselves to the scattering of noise waves. Utilizing Unika Vaev’s PET and printing capabilities, this pairing of art and  functionality is a symbol of innovation and a reimagination of not only Eliza’s career, but also her life’s purpose.
